It's obviously a subjective & personal experience. It wasn't that long ago that my wireless network adapter worked out of the box or I didn't have to blacklist my onboard audio to use usb speakers or that audio output would switch automatically if I unplugged them, or that only a few distros used a rolling release or that the desktop enviro didn't look & function like a web page from the 80s.

Yup, I'm a needy, high maintenance desktop user with a lot of expectations. But now I can honestly tell any newcomer to Linux that the Linux Desktop Enviro just works like it does on M$ or Apple w/o any caveats or lil' white lies.
