I've had few issues loading Linux on HP's and the BIOS
is easy to work with and HP has suprisingly good support
pages for debuging.

However, when it comes to Linux printers I've always had to
stick with HP printers. I have a lower level (read cheap) Brother
printer that refused to work with CUPS, nothing worked. HP
seems willing to write Linux drivers for their printers.

Yeah. I have a Brother MFC-7820N8 that most of the time works fine, but once in awhile it flakes out. Reinstalling seems to work. But one of these days I'll look for a good, used HP printer.

Lastly, current HP machines don't seem to be "enterprise
grade" e.g. run them untill they croak and dispose of them.
But I havent see HP "glue" their laptops shut like other
manufactures yet; I'd check that upon purchase if you hope
to install up graded parts.

Thanks. That's all good to know.
