While I have used Cartridge World refills on my LJ5 since 1997, the 2550C
color laser jet won't work with any other than a gen-u-wine HP cartridge.
Those are $$$ and I've already put too much money into this unit.

A bit of web research found the Dell C1760NW to be a good unit for an
affordable price, and while Amazon charges $263 for a set of cartridges
other vendors sell sets in the $50-60 range -- for all four, not just one.

Has anyone experience with Dell laser printers and off-brand cartridges?
If not, suggestions on where I might find some insight on this issue?

My research also taught me that Dell and Xerox have mated and the C1760NW
is a re-branded Xerox Phaser 6000B. This is important because Dell provides
printer drivers for only proprietary OSes: windoze and osx. But, Xerox
provides a linux driver in both .deb and .rpm packages (easily converted to
Slackware's .tgz package).

Regards,

Rich
