Yes. I logged out, and logged back in choosing KDE. I ran a music file, then logged out and back in choosing XFCE.

If you are confident that they do, then assigning functionality is not too
difficult. But you have to be sure that's what the problem is.

I suppose the next thing is to figure out what keys those. Is there a utility for that?
