There is a bill in the Oregon Legislature right now (HB2688), which would
make existing service manuals available to third parties. This is important
to organizations like Free Geek, but it's also important to people like us,
either directly or indirectly. There are lots of co-sponsors, but the word
is that the chair of the committee it has been assigned to is not a
supporter and it might not get a hearing in time for action this session.
If you are interested in this issue, there is an organizing meeting at Free
Geek this evening.
