I find that libGLU is installed.
Did you install the x86_64 google-earth or the x86 (32-bit version)?
x86_64. I have no 32 bit on this install.
To update the slocate library, as root run 'updatedb'
This command is run automatically if you leave the PC on overnight.
The machine is on 24/7
Alternatively, try on x86_64
ls -l /usr/lib64/libGLU*
root@ENU-2:~# ls -l /usr/lib64/libGLU*
/bin/ls: cannot access '/usr/lib64/libGLU*': No such file or directory
root@ENU-2:~#
Also you can check
ldd /opt/google/earth/pro/libevllpro.so |grep libGLU
and 'should' see
libGLU.so.1 => /usr/lib64/libGLU.so.1
root@ENU-2:~# ldd /opt/google/earth/pro/libevllpro.so |grep libGLU
libGLU.so.1 => not found
root@ENU-2:~#
If you see
libGLU.so.1 => /usr/lib/libGLU.so.1
then that is your answer.
If libs and symlinks are missing, reinstall glu-9.0.0-x86_64 package.
root@ENU-2:~# slackpkg reinstall glu-9.0.0-x86_64
Looking for glu-9.0.0-x86_64 in package list. Please wait... DONE
Package: glu-9.0.0-x86_64-1.txz

Executing install script for glu-9.0.0-x86_64-1.txz.
Package glu-9.0.0-x86_64-1.txz installed.
I can launch Google Earth from the menu and I get the dialog:
Enter password for keyring 'Default keyring' to unlock.
The text part of the GE window loads, the GE splash window shows, and a
small window shows that says:
Loading myplaces.kml, including enabled overlays
I don't recall ever setting up a password for 'Default keyring'.
If I cancel the keyring password dialog a small rectangle opens in the
graphic space of GE, but the splash window doesn't go away. When I close
GE, another dialog comes up asking for the keyring password.
Launching by typing google-earth-pro in a terminal produces no output. I
get all the same things as above.
How do I set a password for the keyring?
