The unit with the bum screen is a Satellite L45-S7423, Model number

The unit that won't boot is a Satellite A135-S2326, Part number
PSAD6U-0100D.
Teh Innurnet tells me they're the same size (15.4"), resolution
(1280x800), backlight (CCFL) and connector (30-pin) so you should be
good to go. I also have a spare screen from my dad's old Toshiba
though I don't know if it's the right specs or is any good anymore.
Great!
Here's a good illustrated guide to give you an idea of how it's done:

Looks like it might be enough for me to be able to follow.
Sounds like a good project for this Sunday's Linux Clinic!
Alas, my afternoon is fully booked with a concert I'm participating in.
The concert doesn't start until 4:00, but I have to be there at 1:00.
Otherwise, I would plan on being at the clinic on Sunday. Also, we'll be
out of town on the day of the June clinic. If I haven't gotten the
project completed by the July clinic I'll bring them then.
Thanks!
