Ken, I thought that there was a way to keep only new layers. Forgot about turning off the background as it's been a long time since I used it for more that rescaling digital camera images. If there's a way to use PSTricks to trace an existing line drawing I'll use that as I have extremely fine control (sub-millimeter) in element placement. Thanks!
