Button 2 is the middle button, but that's probably what you meant anyway, as the right button cancels the line.

Galen,

On my Logitech trackball, the thumb works the two buttons on the left side
and the middle finger the button on the right side. I number them from 1-3
from left to right. Regardless, looking at the button diagram I admit to
mis-numbering them.

Has anyone else experienced this annoying behavior? I'm running xfig-3.2.5c
here.

Works as expected here.
xfig-3.2.5-44.c.el7.x86_64
CentOS Linux release 7.6.1810 (Core)

Today I discovered that if I pause at the end of the line and gently press
the middle button I'll get the outlined square that indicates the line was
ended.

As I create the necessary diagrams I'm learning how to use xfig more
efficiently. The last time I worked with a Tcl/Tk application was GRASS GIS
prior to version 5 in the early 2000s.

I wonder how many Tcl/Tk applications are still being used and supported.
While xfig is comparatively primative it is easy to learn (when used
sufficiently frequently) and offers fine control. Not as fine as PSTricks,
but for the occasional user like me it's much quicker.

Best regards,

Rich
