whoops.  That means whatever GPU you are using isn't that AMD GPU. What
does

# lspci -vn |grep VGA

give?  It will list all VGA controllers the kernel finds.

oops. I was insufficiently precise.  I meant to ask what GPU chips X.Org
is trying to probe.
