Mike J just mentioned that there were responses to his tweet about this issue. I don't have a Twitter account, so I haven't seen them, but I do have a thought to add: The last time I went into this building I don't recall if the door locks had magnetic stripe capability, but I don't think it does. There are buildings (e.g., the Ondine) which contain classrooms and which are locked 24/7. Students can go in any time with their PSU identification by swiping their ID card in the magnetic stripe actuator mounted on the wall by the door. Even as a mere senior auditor* I qualify for such a PSU identification card. If the doors do not have magnetic actuators I am sure they will be installed before classes begin, if not already. I don't know much about how they work, but surely they can be disabled for a period of time. *To qualify as a PSU senior auditor you merely need to be 65 years old or better, and still alive. _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
