I've a newly installed scientific reference database application (Zotera)
that is not working properly on the Ryzen7 desktop running
Slackware-14.2/x86_64. It is written in java (version unknown). When I
highlight text in a PDF document and try to paste it into the appropriate
data entry widget nothing happens.

This was the same issue I had with JabRef-4.3.1, but not with prior versions
of JabRef (except that today version 3.8.2 refused to load while it worked
just fine last Friday). That's why I decided to give Zotera a try.

Over the years I've found it very useful to copy/paste titles, abstracts,
and other text when entering new references. It's a PITA, especially with a
long abstract, to re-keyboard the text.

I don't understand why pasting using a mouse or trackball would fail on one
or two applications while working just fine on other GUI applications. And
there's never an issue when working in a virtual terminal. I'd like to learn
from more experienced folks 1) why pasting can fail and whether this is a
'feature' of newer java versions and 2) how to overcome this limitation.

Regards,

Rich
