I have a computer that suffered a hardware failure. I replaced it with a 'new' unit from Free Geek running Mint. I pulled the hard drive and need to try to recover some data from it. I have an external drive adapter that plugs into a USB port.
Previously, (assuming I remember correctly) I simply hooked up the drive to the adapter and plugged it into the USB port and it showed up as sdb and I was able to transfer data as needed. This time, nothing shows up. So, either I cannot remember how it shows up or I am doing something wrong (both likely). I tried a couple of other drives that I had previously hooked up with similar results. I have tried parted -l, fdisk -l, lsblk -a, and looked at /dev with no good results. Any ideas?
