The EdgeRouter-X serial console is connected to the laptop using a
USB-to-ttl adapter. To access the router I use 'screen /dev/ttyUSB0 57600'
and get a blank console.

Plugging the power connector into the ER-X and holding down the '1' key on
the laptop I interrupt the ER-X's boot process and am presented with a
recovery menu. I want menu item 1 to load the recovery image using tftp.

My question is how I should invoke tftp because if I try typing
/usr/bin/tftp in the serial console the keystrokes are not visible. And, if
I invoke it from another virtual console I don't know if it's available for
use with the ER-X screen console. The Ubiquti recovery manual doesn't cover
this, at least not for linux systems.

So, I have a virtual terminal running screen connected to the ER-X and I
want to use tftp to transfer a specific file name after entering the IP
addresses of the ER-X (192.168.1.1) and the laptop (192.168.1.55). The file
to be transferred is
ER-e50.recovery.v2.0.6.5208541.190708.0508.16de5fdde.img which is in the
ER-X recovery directory on the laptop.

I have the individual pieces working (found the correct pinouts for the
ER-X): a screen console, tftp, and the recovery image available and ask how
to put them all together.

Regards,

Rich
