I have been organizing Open Coffee meetings with zoom. It works reasonably
well. I have not been able to replace it with other tools yet.

We just this weekend ran a startup weekend remote. The core tool for that
was discord.

If you want a text + video experience, that can work.

It helps to have a facilitator with a theme about what they want to
communicate.
