It did look like it was a bit too low, so I used a knife to persuade it
to come up a bit. But I'm still getting extra linefeeds. Plus I have a
problem with the mouse - it freezes when it hasn't been moved for a
while, and I have to pick it up and set it back down to get it working
again.

I suspect that at least the mouse problem is due to the new Nvidia
drivers that Ubuntu foisted on me a few days ago - version 440 was
replaced by version 450, about a dozen files in all. I have been
putting up with this for a week now. But I don't understand much about
how the video on this computer works - it has both Intel and Nvidia
video. And according to lshw it is using both - the Intel normally
because it is easier on the battery, and the Nvidia when it needs to.

But maybe the mouse problem is from something else.
