My intuition is that you should ditch this path and go with a webcam and a
regular box.
Given that some chrome boxes are $150. And a camera + light are another
$50. You can get this done fast and cheap and open source for the most
part.

The question is how much you want to fiddle.

And it is a question of which of the 100+ video programs she wants to
use....
