Chromium is the open source version of chrome. There are some web sites, such as those used for hosting virtual conferences, that do not support firefox or opera. I've found that chromium works as well as chrome for these and other sites whose maintainers know only Microsoft and Apple. If there's a working SR application that runs on chrome it will most likely also run on chromium. It all comes down to whether you want a working SR application that does what you need it to do or you deny yourself that opportunity and continue seeking alternatives that might not be available or work as well.
