Found the actual links I was looking for:

Original reddit user who noticed it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/lbu0t1/microsoft_repo_installed_on_all_raspberry_pis/

Github issue tracker where it was admitted that they pushed the update BEFORE it was added to their git repo:

https://github.com/RPi-Distro/raspberrypi-sys-mods/issues/41

Looks like the rasberry pi people are trusting microsoft to sign and distribute packages despite known issues with that company. There are better ways to add VS to your distribution.

Can any actual Raspberry Pi users confirm what the latest sources.lst
repos are for Raspberry Pi OS?

There's some chatter going around about a recent update that gives MS
more visibility of linux users, but I'm not finding any reporting from a
reputable source. Figured I'd check with someone who actually has that
hardware/software before getting angry.
