An excellent resource. IIRC, Richard is a "seasoned citizen" like me - we have lost some connecting neurons, and that cheat sheet (and others found by googling for "linux cheat sheet" as Wes suggests) helps us reconnect with what we used to know. I still vaguely remember that "cat filename" spews an ascii file to a text window, but I probably won't remember that five years from now (I use "less" more often). Cheat sheets will help - if I can remember where I filed them. I write down my problem-solving steps in notebooks. I have about 50 notebooks - unindexed. The problems I solved 20+/-10 years ago are effectively lost. Lately, I write down the stuff I frequently forget on our home wiki. But if the wiki fails, I can't use the wiki to figure out how to get it running again. So, I must take the time to print out these pearls of wisdom, and clear enough shelf space so that I can find the one precious three ring binder that contains the printouts. Ah well - getting old is better than the alternative. Keith -- Keith Lofstrom [email protected]
