Two suggestions with questions:
1. Is there a way you could display the image from one of the Xubuntu 20.04
computers to the Xubuntu 18.04 computer then from that computer to the
other one? Try doing that.
I'm not sure what you have in mind here. I can display images from the
20.04 machine on the 18.04 machine. I have copies of the same images on
both machines, so from the 20.04 machine I try looking at those images
on the 18.04 machine. Problem still exists.
I tried leaving a connection open between the 18 machine and the 20
machine, and then attempted to look at the 20 machine through the 18
machine, but that option wasn't available using Thunar.
2. Did you install digikam from here:
https://snapcraft.io/digikam? If not try that, but you may need to
uninstall the one you have first.
What I used was
sudo apt install digikam
I'll try your recommendation later, but I have a feeling it won't matter.
Contact the developers also.
It took a while to figure out how to do that, but eventually I found
that I needed to log in to my UbuntuOne account. I had forgotten I even
had such an account, and it didn't accept my password. But it allowed me
to recreate it, and then it logged me in. I found my way to
https://wiki.xubuntu.org/qa/report#reporting and followed the
instructions and posted the bug report. We'll see how they respond.
Thanks for your input.
