Portland Linux/Unix Group General Meeting Announcement

Who: Ben Koenig
What: Pipewire Audio Server

I learned a little bit last evening. Unless I misunderstood, Pipewire is working to provide a way to have the pro audio advantages of JACK, and the user friendly stuff from PulseAudio in one package. And while it is still a work in progress, if it becomes popular, it won't mess up the average guy like me.

We also had an informal show of hands related to PLUG meetings. I'm happy with remote meetings. I had some issues with the audio. It was understandable, but warbled a bit. (I don't know what the right term is for the sound.) I've not had this problem with Zoom, so I'd vote to keep having remote meetings, and do them with Zoom. At one time I recall some discussion about remote clinic meetings. I'm in favor of those, too, and again, using Zoom.

Thanks for the meeting last night.
