Looking for a PCIe add-on card with eSATA ports I see that apparently not all support linux or all motherboards (why that's so I don't understand.)
I learned from Mediasonic tech support both that eSATA is a dead technology no longer being developed and that the one PCIe card that works with the Probox is no longer manufactured although Newegg still has some for sale. The one I ordered from Amazon supports only Windows. I tried cancelling today's delivery. If that fails I'll return it and the eSATA cables. Mediasonic recommends sticking with USB 3.0 and that's what I'll do. There's always something new for an end user to learn; that's a good thing. Carpe weekend, all, Rich
