I fret too much. I found a webpage with instructions to
"unsnap" ubuntu/firefox and use the mozilla apt repository
instead:

https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2022/04/how-to-install-firefox-deb-apt-ubuntu-22-04

The instructions are cut-and-paste text from that web
page. Which is weird; if the web page is displayed
with the firefox browser, how do you cut-and-paste
from firefox while de-installing it? I mostly use
Brave browser, not a problem for me, but for others?

I will create a shell script instead.

Many other interesting Ubuntu repair suggestions on
that page, and a pointer to another webpage with more.

Having found the community of anti-snappers, I will play
more with Ubuntu 22.04.1, unless I encounter showstoppers.
There may be bigger snap issues designed into future LTS
releases, but 22.04 should last until 2027, perhaps 2032
if I sign up for Extended Security Maintenance.
