So, I ended up pulling out my other projects, reinstalling subversion
(this time *with* bdb support), and copying the website folder into my
repository, and i can get my website back! granted, it meant that i
lost my previous revisions of my projects, but most of them are in a
rather stable state anyways... :)

the other advantage of this is, i was able to set my repository up
"correctly" now... :)

thanks for all the advice and help! :)
