The Author swears it's easy -- I hope I never have to use these
techniques...

Doesn't even take a power outage. I bricked my brother's HP (running XP)
doing a BIOS upgrade a couple months ago. Tell 'em the truth, "I tried
to update the BIOS and now it won't boot." No need to go into detail.
