Ok,  it  looks  like I  was  wrong  about  this  bug. It  isn't  in  the
mailing list  software, but instead  in TMDA  (at least the  version I'm
running).  It isn't  properly encoding  the DOT  as DOTDOT  when calling
/usr/sbin/sendmail.
