I need to do this because the place I was faxing said we were sending way to
many faxes.
I needed to send them .tiff files instead of faxing them.
I don't think tiff uses compression, so tiff files are fairly
large. Instead, how about converting to PDF and sending that?
From what I can tell, TIFF is actually is very general raster format
that allows any number of subformats. AFAIK you can put a JPEG or a PNG
in a TIFF. However, as you suggest, PDF is going to be a lot nicer than
any raster image.
