Come now, I think it all comes down to:
"Are the vast majority of replies to mailing lists posts intended to go to
the author of the post only, or to the entire mailing list as a whole?"
Whichever is more common should be the default.
Of course, only an idiot would misspell "consider", so this is all
probably a waste of time. ;-)
