The Network Operations Center team helps customers with all aspects of
system administration and troubleshooting of issues related to their
systems that are colocated in Tier Four's Utah data centers. These
positions offer the opportunity for growth and learning, however,
previous experience as a system administrator or general computer geek
is required. Applicants must have at least some formal education beyond
high school - concurrent enrollment in college is definitely acceptable.
Time commitments range from 12 to 32 hours per week. Pay ranges from
$11 to $18 per hour depending on the shift chosen, previous experience,
and internal certification level (training is provided by Tier Four).
Opportunities for full time employment and advancement within the
organization are available in the future.
Applicant should be familiar with administration of the following
operating systems:
-Linux and Linux Variants, 2.4 and 2.6 kernels, including experience
with non kernel based device drivers
-Windows Server 2000 and 2003
-Solaris or HP-UX experience is a plus but is not required
Applicants should have a working understanding of and some experience with:
-Firewalls, NAT, and VPNs
-Layer2 switching and Layer3 routing
-Apache, MySQL and PostgresSQL, PHP
-DNS
-Basic shell scripting
-Cisco IOS - command line admin/troubleshooting
Additional training to augment current skill sets will be provided by
Tier Four. However, applicants that do not meet at least 80% of the
above listed requirements need not apply. Previous experience at a data
center or colocation company is not required.
