Luckily, because it is network traffic you can use a sniffer to debug. I
recommend ethereal-gnome.
If it had been eating your hard drive, however, I'm not aware of an easy
way to debug IO usage in Linux. All I've seen so far is atop, and that
requires a kernel patch for full functionality.
