All it needs is a BOP module (Business::OnlinePayment) This is a cpan api to which you can write plugins to any gateway. The most popular already exist, and writing knew ones is actually quite easy. If so, look on cpan (http://search.cpan.org/search?query=business+onlinepayment&mode=all) and you'll see a large number. Also, many merchants often are licensing software from a group upstream, and adding their gateways ca be *really* easy.
