My HD reception is great.  I have a good antenna installed on my roof.
By the way, if you want to be able to record encrypted HD programs
from a cable-type provider, the best and only option I know of is
http://www.169time.com/, which sells modified satellite set-top boxes,
which give you a direct firewire connection to the decrypted MPEG
data.

I'm using one for analog; Comcast encrypts the HDTV signal where I live in CA
(even for the broadcast stations they carry) >:(

I did also get the HD stuff to work using an antenna, although it was a real
pain.  Their software support is very poorly done.
