I have two theories: 1. The 'touch' command basically touches a file to update the access modification time. Seems straight forward. 2. (Is this where your mind wandered?) The 'geeks' who wrote the 'touch' command may not have had girlfriends, so the computer was the closest thing to a girlfriend.
