I agree with Jonathan. PostgreSQL is easier to setup and maintain, just as easy to use, and very well supported, although not as many off-the-street hosting options.
I don't think it's as easy to use when you're first learning. That's like saying that vi is as easy to use as pico. Once you know what you're doing, sure, it's even easier, but when you're learning, pico is much easier.
