4gig on 32bit linux

Anyone have any success with running 4gigs of memory on a 32bit version 
of linux?  I'm running 64bit linux and I want to reinstall to 32 bit 
because of some compatibility issues.  My system has 4gigs of memory 
that I would like to not give up.  Does anyone have any experience with 
this?
