Check out Trolltech's commercial license vs GPL license of Qt. They do almost exactly this, but instead of derivative works, they simply allow you to link against their library without GPL'ing your app. Pretty close, so it may work for you what you want.

I am about to release a bunch of source code into the wild under the GPL v3.
I've read it, and feel it's appropriate for what I'm trying to do

However I would also like to offer a paid licensing option which
allows people to close the source on their derived works. Does anyone
know of a good option I can offer for sale which allow folks to do
this if they want to?

Thanks in advance,
Sincerely,
Steve
