I ended up getting the D-Link DIR-655 for $119 because they had it locally at Costco, who has a good return policy. So far I am happy. I consistenly get 47000+ kbps down and 59000+ kpbs up from speedtest.xmission.com. Vonage was routed through it just fine after forwarding the proper ports. It handles jumbo frames and both the N and G signals are stronger than old gp2. Configuration is not as straightforward as Linksys, but there are more options, such as ip reservations, host and port access controls to limit what device or port can connect to the net at a given (configurable) time period, content filtering by device and schedule, and both WAN to LAN and LAN to WAN throughput.

I will probably run a few throughput tests to verify things but probably end up keeping it.

I don't think the N market on the client side is mature enough to merit GigE on the wireless.

So get whatever flavor wireless you want and plug it into a Dell 2708 or 2716 switch.

That's what I am doing.

Subject: Utopia Router

I have the enviable problem of having bandwidth--50mb/s
Utopia/Xmission!!--that outpaces the throughput cabilities of my Linksys
wrt54gp2 (vonage) at 20 mb/s. Ideally I would like to keep a single box
that does vonage, routes, and switches, but it looks like linksys/vonage
parntership is no more.

Xmission recommends the wrt54gl, which gets very good reviews and has the
capacity for open source upgrades, etc, but is still only a G router and no
gigabit.

I have about 5 boxes at my house and don't do a lot of gaming but do
transfer large files and want to simplify, yet future proof my network as
much as possible.

So if I want wireless-N and a gigabit switch what would you recommend?
Maybe get the gl and gigabit switch or what? Maybe time to move up to the
Linksys SoHo line like the RVS400 or the WRV200?

Thanks
