Some of you may remember from a previous thread I've started into LVM. So far so good. I have surfer = 250G drive, shark = 200G lv. Now shark is already full of only mythtv stuff, and it's time for shark to start eating surfer. Surfer has about 80G free space, but I _can't_ resize the fs on surfer. So I was wondering about creating a big file(s) on surfer and doing loopback to LVM. I've played with this and I can create PVs just fine from the loops, and use them in VGs and LVs.
A few considerations I'd like help making: Is this even a good idea? Having the loopbacks available for LVM scanning at bootup? Should I be careful about my big file block being sparsely allocated? Von Fugal -- Freedom is Popular http://www.ronpaul2008.com
