POSITION DESCRIPTION: System and Network Administrator PURPOSE OF POSITION This position will be responsible for the administration of Linux/Unix-based servers in support of internal corporate operations as well as hosted enterprise applications developed, deployed, and supported. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES * Install Linux/Unix based operating systems and errata. * Install and upgrade standard software package and system utilities. * Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware/software problems. * Monitor systems availability, performance, utilization, and security * Network enable servers and manage related network equipment * Manage day-to-day procurement needs and inventory tracking * Log review * On-call pager rotation * Candidate must be able to pass Department of Defense security background check. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED * Required Experience: 5+ years experience working with Linux/Unix based systems, less experienced but strongly motivated candidates will also be considered. A BS/BA in CS or BIS is encouraged but not mandatory. * Skills: Knowledge of Linux/Unix operating system concepts, administration, and standard utilities. Clear communication and writing. Persistence in problem diagnosis and resolution. * Beneficial experience: Knowledge of Virtualization, Blade systems, and Centralized Storage will be weighed heavily. Any previous programming or related hardware experience. Familiarity with network configuration/administration. * Equipment Utilized: Linux/Unix based servers * Supervisory Responsibility: Will be expected to train more junior team members when transferring skills * Supervision Received: Moderate supervision with regard to activity planning and scheduling.
