I like my buffalo router running openwrt. I don't know about range,
since I live in a small apartment, but it has 5 ports (and you can set
up the vlan/bridging however you want when using linux on it), and IIRC
it ran me about $60. If you want the model no. I can fish it up, but it
may not be a current model now...
