Our client is looking for a Systems Engineer. The Systems Engineer Installs, configures, and maintains UNIX operating systems. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with the operating system's servers, hardware, applications, and software. Detects, diagnoses, and reports UNIX related problems on servers. Load OS, UNIX updates, virus protection, and other applicable software as needed. Maintain machine integrity by periodically checking event logs, disk space, virus protection updates, and firmware updates. Create and maintain user accounts. Create user accounts with login scripts and shared folder access. Monitor backup sessions throughout the day. Complete work orders in a timely manner. Windows server and Active Directory administration a plus. Networking experience, routers, switches, etc. Other Unix, TRU64, HP-UX, RedHat, Linux, HPUX, Managerial skills, May require a bachelor's degree in a related area and 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Experience with server infrastructure maintenance. Good prioritization skills. Ability to be on call 24-7, 365. The ability to work with the end user community. In-depth knowledge of polices and procedures. Understanding of TRU64, HP-UX, RedHat Linux. Excellent written and verbal communication. Functional knowledge of network marketing. Able to provide after-hours support when required.
