This is one thing I appreciate ablut my Lenovo R51. It is very well documented. I just replaced the hard drive. It's a FRU: field replacable unit. Mechanically, a piece of cake. Now for the software issues....
yeah, it does help to have a popular machine and Lenovo has done a good job with the IBM tradition...

I've seen hacks like this for the eee. It's nice to have a laptop that is cheap enough to experiment on.
