I'd look for a pcmcia card because older laptops tend not to support usb 2.0, usually a prerequisite for a usb ethernet adapter. ------Original Message------ From: Dave Smith Sender: [email protected] To: Provo Linux Users Group Mailing List To: Salt Lake Linux Users Group Discussions ReplyTo: Provo Linux Users Group Mailing List - 100% Unmoderated, High Traffic Subject: In need of old network adapter Sent: Dec 28, 2008 7:08 PM
Pluggers and Slluggers (please excuse the x-post): A teenager in my neighborhood is learning about Ethernet LANs. He wants to network his home desktop and an old laptop. I agreed to help, but his laptop does not have a built-in Ethernet port. To that end, I wonder if anyone has either a PCMCIA Ethernet adapter or a USB Ethernet adapter that they would like to donate to the cause.
