You may recall from a thread[1] that I started (about a year and a half ago) that I've been interested in getting lasik and in hearing the PLUG's wisdom on the topic. I went in and got the screening and did lots of research, but in the end, other expenses took priority.
*time passes* About a month ago, I heard an ad on the radio about a video contest to win free lasik. I was interested, but I mostly blew it off thinking it wasn't my type of thing. Anyway, the night of the deadline, I was talking to my brother about how cool it would be to win. Well I couldn't resist. On the way home from work, I stopped at the local D.I. and picked up the thickest glasses that $1.75 could buy. I started the camera and the results where, ah, kinda funny (and creepy). After about two or three takes, I had my contest entry[2] . I asked my wife what she thought and she was like, "You're kidding right"? I knew then, it was the right thing to do :) I was kinda surprised that the video did as well as it did. I was even more surprised when I eventually got selected as one of the contest finalists. Right now it has more then 1/2 the views of the official contest video and 50-350% more views then the other finalist's entries. Two winners will be selected, one humorous and one serious. On Sept. 9th we find out who wins. I'd love it if you might help by voting[3] for your pal Roger Bespectacled (you think I'm going to use my *real* name for that?), in the humorous category. If you do vote, keep it clean by only voting once per IP/day. If you're extra bored with life, consider friending "Roger" on facebook[4] and following him on twitter[5]. Don't get too attached, as I'm pretty sure Roger either dies an ignominious or victorious (TBD) death on Sept. 10th. Thanks for your time :) Gabe 1) http://www.plug.org/pipermail/plug/2008-February/029678.html 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yntDtQq5PnE 3) http://www.hoopesvision.com/contest/ 4) http://www.facebook.com/thebespectacled 5) http://twitter.com/thebespectacled /* PLUG: http://plug.org, #utah on irc.freenode.net Unsubscribe: http://plug.org/mailman/options/plug Don't fear the penguin. */
