This http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_neutrality is an ok summary of
what most people think net neutrality is, but it is biased toward proponents
of net neutrality legislation or government oversight. The fact that
defining net neutrality is so difficult is (in my mind) a very good reason
that it shouldn't be legislated, or at least not yet.

Most of the ideals of net neutrality are just fine with me. To me the big
issue is, is it such a pressing need that government intervention will
actually do more harm than good. I don't think Comcast should charge me for
Internet service, then charge me more for access to Google. I don't like it
that they want to block BitTorrent traffic. But I'm convinced that if
congress or the FCC get involved we the consumers will end up paying more
and getting less.

I like to call the net neutrality crowd the interventionists. Some parts of
net neutrality are pretty good. But since I don't want the government
involved, I'm labelled as anti-net neutrality. I'm not, I just believe that
the unintended consequences of gubment involvement will far outweigh any
potential advantage. But people who think the government is the answer to
everything seem to be running the show, so we'll probably get it.
