Hadoop is an open-source MapReduce framework inspired by Google's MapReduce and Google File System (GFS) papers. It's used to process "Big Data" (petabytes) by distributing work across tens, hundreds, or thousands of nodes in a cluster. Hadoop is used by Google, eBay, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo!, Adobe, StumbleUpon, LinkedIn, Intel, Tynt, and many other notable shops with Big Data processing requirements. About the Presenter: Bryan is a high school dropout who's been writing software professionally since the ripe age of 15. He's worked with a lot of software that manipulates Big Data for various companies. Bryan is currently working with the Canadians to take over the world. Occasionally Bryan gets paid to hurt people in front of large crowds. Please note that this meeting with be on a Thursday night, not the usual Wednesday night.
