I just verified that RHEL6.0 behaves like Ubuntu and Fedora. This tells 
me it must be a gcc thing and not a RHEL thing.

That's too bad, because I really liked the old behavior. It would be 
great if I could specify sub-arguments to -Wconversion to specify the 
kinds of warnings I want to see.
