applications for Assistant CSR for the Chemistry Department. The job
number is 110217. Basically you have to replace me. :)
But here's the blurb:
* Must have BS degree in Computer Science or related field. Can
substitute 5 years full-time work experience for degree if work
experience is related directly to job responsibilities.
* Must have outstanding administrative and organizational skills,
attention to detail, and the ability to make decisions.
* Must know Red Hat Enterprise Server Linux, ZFS and other
appropriate linux filesystems.
* Must have experience with SQL Database commands.
* Must have in depth knowledge of network architecture and
protocols, including LDAP, Samba and NFS
* Must have a good working knowledge of Windows XP/7, Mac OS X, HTML
Language, Drupal, and Linux. These skills must be mastered at a level
where they can be taught to others.
* Must have excellent interpersonal and social skills to maintain
relationships both in and out of the department.
* Must be able to maintain personal computers, install peripherals,
connect PCs to the network, and install new software and hardware.
* Must be able to efficiently search online and find answers to new
problems that arise.
* Acts as the Department CSR when the regular CSR is away from the
building.
* Installs, configures and maintains department network and server
components, including e-mail, web, file, and print servers, and Ethernet
switches, virtual private network and firewall.
* Trains and supervises students unpacking new personal computers
received from the manufacturer, making any applicable changes to
hardware and software required for our network, testing the operation of
the machine, connecting peripherals and installing the machine at the
designated location.
* Trains and supervises student CSRs in the area of PC maintenance
* Performs diagnostic techniques on department PCs, makes software
modifications as needed, recommends replacement components as needed,
and directs students to repair any problems found.
* Supports undergraduate student computer lab, including application
installation and support
* Supports the college office.
