I'd really encourage glassdoor.com. Many companiess actually pay attention to glassdoor.com now and will/might/maybe do something about the issues if they are public (though anonymous). Also, reporting your real salary helps add data to the overall salary picture (not salary.com averages/survey results) and helps to drive the demand for better wages for like-minded workers. Since many more engineers are in our state than are on PLUG, I would recommend adding to a datastore like glassdoor. A database like this that is firewalled from the decision makers at those companies (by technology or by obscurity) won't help as much as the public praise/ridicule of those companies through a forum like glassdoor. Similar to how getsatisfaction or YELP has actually prompted companies to actually MAKE changes through public visibility into real experiences, I strongly recommend adding to the resources available to us all. Also, news organizations are tapping glassdoor.com now in their reviews of companies more and more. If there's no data, they won't likely go trolling for a user group out there with a private database of company comments. #justsayin /* PLUG: http://plug.org, #utah on irc.freenode.net Unsubscribe: http://plug.org/mailman/options/plug Don't fear the penguin. */
